"We can truly become, at this point, some 'bad [...] with her and assure you that what has happened up until now is nothing if you do not accept this resignation." These words, freely extrapolated from a film directed by Francesca Comencini and starring Nicoletta Braschi ("I like to work - Mobbing"), is used by the personnel director to persuade an employee to sign his letter of resignation, after having already been the victim of violent behavior, designed to ostracize, harass and marginalize its presence in the company. In our country, actually replaces the fiction film for at least 1 million Italian workers, forced to abandon its own initiative, the workplace, as induced by unorthodox methods. That is a phenomenon of horizontal (mobbing in the strict sense, ie from the same co-workers) or vertical (in this case is more properly called "bossing" that is, when the mobber is a boss or a manager) bullying is characterized by a set of common behaviors that often qualify as persecution and reflected on the mental and physical health of the worker and the harassment is not always to track illegal, it often takes the form of behavior that in themselves are wearing, at least ' appearance, as is allowed, as is the purpose of to be unlawful. Salvatore, a computer engineer in Milan 64 years, has suffered for 10 years (from 1999 until last year) "conduct regular, systematic and repeated (according to the prosecutor Piero Basilone leading the charge against the AEM, the power company Milan) to harassment, bullying and humiliation, "probably in order to reduce the senior staff. According to the indictment, the Milanese engineer would be forced to carry out their work on a 'plan to block private changing rooms and refectory, "isolated and deprived of any technical support (such as printer, internet), taking into account more de' the alleged harassment of working results in the absence of resources and support. " Sad ending of the 10 years spent working in degrading conditions were mental disorders reported by the employee, because of "stress does not work." I can also take an unduly fragmented, episodic structure and even isolated (as in the case of "straining," which may consist of a single action with effects of stressors, however, long-lasting), but the element of commonality is the desire (and intent) to make it easier for workers to resign. On the other hand can be seen the violent nature of bullying by the etymology of the term: that, in fact, derives from English "To mob" (= attack, attack) and was coined from ethology Konrad Lorenz, to define the collective assault of some wild ducks against an animal of the same species. The first, however, to use that term referring to the workplace was the psychologist Heinz Leymann, who described the phenomenon in question as "psychological terror at work [... that] consists of a communication hostile and contrary to ethical principles, committed in a systematic way by one or more persons mainly against a single individual that is pushed into a defense for this. These actions are performed with high frequency and for a long period of time and because of this, the mobbed person suffers serious psychological distress, psychosomatic and social. " In many cases, the case of bullying is difficult to prove in court because of the lack, precisely, of certain elements that confirm the veracity of the offense committed by exposing the worker mobbizato the risk that paralyzed the probative value of their allegations. A phenomenon entirely overlooked in the recent past and diminished, sometimes even by the union on some occasions have rated the discomfort of workers as an ordinary situation of incompatibility of character between colleagues. The conception of this phenomenon is, however, changed in recent years because of the formation antimobbing centers, the creation of workshops and conferences focusing on the theme. In this way, workers have more weapon to defend himself from a pervasive phenomenon, which can result in workers mobbed serious trouble, as the nature of food disorders, low self-esteem, gradual leveling of the ability to relate to, anxiety, insomnia and depression . Whether it's a bad habit of always adopted in the workplace or a serious distortion of modernity, the bullying is undoubtedly a moral violence aimed at putting workers in a position to leave voluntarily, so their dignity by selling at market price.
